As mentioned on the first page of our website, we were very pleased to be approached by journalist Heidi Fuller-Love in connection with her recent article - writing a piece about the current trend of using antique and reclaimed materials when renovating or changing the face of a house in France. We were able to answer all of Heidi's queries in this respect and was mentioned several times in her article which appeared in Mays edition of Living France magazine. If you were unable to see a copy of this magazine, here are a few snippets from the magazine as a "taster". If you are still wanting to get hold of a full copy of the magazine, you can purchase your copy online at http://www.livingfrance.com "......When it comes to reclaimed timber, brick pavers or stonework, however, it's probably best to consult a specialised, registered, architectural reclamation company, like Anciens Materiaux Renovation de Normandie run by the Marsden family, who are originally from Halifax. People come here to discuss their requirements without having to bring their dictionary with them, and if they have a problem they know we can help them solve it', he says......" "......From granite troughs to sandstone lintels, salvage experts agree that stone elements add immense character to any house. 'Different regions have different types of stone and each has its own charm', says Leaharna. 'The easiest stone materials to use when renovating are probably sills, lintels and quoin stones, while granite troughs look wonderful as a garden feature. But you need to be a real expert to fit fireplaces', she adds......" Read the full article in Mays edition of Living France magazine. Special thanks to Heidi for her agreement in allowing us to use the above snippets from the article. |
